Good morning everyone! To kick off this fine Tuesday morning, I wanted to share a secret with you guys that you might not know about my wardrobe. . . ready? Here we go.
I am a major thrift shopper! (*Gasp*) You heard me. Used clothes. Here’s the thing – I have always been into checking out and staying updated about the latest styles, the go-to items for each brand that I follow, and scoping out where to find them at the best price. Sometimes, a brand will stick with a certain item (lets say a Burberry trench coat) and carry it throughout the year (or even years and years after that – like the Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 Bag) so it makes sense (at least to me) to wait until you can find those items at rock bottom prices because they’ll always be a brand staple. Follow me?
Personally, I am always on the hunt for these brand staples and because of it, I frequent many different consignment / thrift / vintage / second-hand / etc. shops and keep track of whats on the shelves each week — which is what led me to finding this gorgeous Free People dress!
Now, this dress isn’t necessarily a brand staple, however, when I came across it at Buffalo Exchange in Davis Square (a consignment shop in Somerville, MA) I just had to try it on! Turns out, the dress was currently in stores and had barely been worn (#score)!
If you’ve ever noticed, a lot of the items that you find in consignment stores aren’t actually used at all. Some of the items are new with tags, whereas others are classic finds that you might not be able to get your hands on anywhere else! It all depends on what you’re hunting for.
Some of my favorite consignment shops include:
1) The Real Real (for amazing online sales, click here)
2) Buffalo Exchange in Davis Square (Somerville)
3) Madison Ave (Melrose, MA)
4) Bag, Borrow, or Steal (not actually a consignment shop, but you can purchase older items at a serious discount!)
Have you ever gone thrift shopping? What are some of your favorite finds?
